Second Chances

One month after the fire at Split River High School, the school is finally reopening its doors. For Maddie Nears and her friends, senior year is supposed to be a chance to move forward after everything that happened.

But not everyone is ready to let go.

With the school boundaries gone, the ghosts of Split River can finally leave the place that trapped them for decades. Still, Charley, Rhonda, Quinn, and Yuri remain close to the school, struggling with the emptiness left behind after their friends crossed over.

Every week, Maddie visits them at the old bus stop, with Simon never too far behind, trying to keep their unusual friendship alive.

Then the impossible happens.

The ghosts who crossed over return.

Janet Hamilton comes back with fears about what Van Heidt may be planning. Dawn returns because she couldn't stay away from the people she loves.

And Wally Clark comes back for Maddie.

As old mysteries resurface and new dangers begin to threaten Split River once again, Maddie and the others discover that some connections are strong enough to survive death itself - and that sometimes fate is willing to offer a second chance.
