Three months before their wedding, Chase and Skye are learning what it means to build a life instead of just survive one.
Skye is unpacking - literally and otherwise. Moving her things into Chase's puphouse. Figuring out what her preferences actually are when no one is telling her she can't have them. Learning that lavender is her favorite flower, that she wants a view of the sky, that she has more opinions than she knew. Chase is watching all of it with the patient, cataloguing attention of a dog who has been keeping a record of her since before he admitted why - and slowly, carefully, learning to hand over his own hard things instead of just holding hers.
Around them, life keeps arriving. Zuma and Tala's triplets are born in the small hours, and the whole team spends the night in the warm chaos of something new coming into the world. Marshall sits outside a bedroom door and runs the math on everything that could go wrong. Everest holds a kit she didn't pack. The morning after, something shifts in all of them - about what they're building and why.
There are hard days too. A rescue goes right in the air and sideways in the debrief. They fight, genuinely, about trust and fear and the walls that go up when you're scared and don't know how to say so. They find their way back. The finding their way back matters more than they expected it to.
