Eighteen year old Elena has spent her entire life chasing perfection on the ice. A figure skater from Europe, she has always believed that talent could take her anywhere until her life is uprooted and she is sent to train in Russia, where everything is faster, colder, and far more unforgiving than she expected.

At one of the most elite training environments in the world, she finds herself under the watchful eye of one of the most feared and respected coaches in figure skating: Eteri Tutberidze.

Eteri is distant. Strict. Impossible to read. And yet, she sees something in Elena that no one else does.

As pressure builds on and off the ice, Elena is pushed further than she has ever been before physically, mentally, and emotionally. What begins as admiration slowly turns into something far more dangerous, something neither of them is allowed to name.
