In a modern Philippines where beings known as NILALANG (Non-human Integrated Lifeforms and Anomalies Living within Adaptive Networks and Groups) coexist with humans, half-human and half-aswang investigator Alex Remulla and her disillusioned human partner Evan del Agua investigate a series of bloodless murders blamed on aswang, uncovering a conspiracy built on fear and prejudice.
