The story initially presents Jarrod as a child prodigy of violence who began killing at the age of ten to eliminate any perceived threat to Xavier's peace. However, the epilogue introduces a jarring shift in the "truth," as Jarrod claims his earlier tales of childhood murder were "mind-fucking entertainment" designed to captivate Xavier.
