Crossed Secrets

Layla has just carried the last box into her new apartment. To her, those walls represent the beginning of freedom and the first step toward a flawless life plan: excelling at university and establishing herself in the professional world. Layla runs on goals, coffee, and carefully planned schedules.

However, the silence she expected for studying is constantly interrupted by her neighbor, Mauricio.

An employee at the stockroom of a local supermarket, Mauricio is the complete opposite of what success manuals describe. He attends the same university as Layla, but he approaches his degree and career without the desperate urgency that consumes her. He lives in the present, dresses without worrying about labels, and finds his truth somewhere between the physical exhaustion of manual labor and the freedom of his mind after work.

What begins as casual encounters in the elevator and accidental run-ins across campus soon turns into an unexpected connection. While Layla tries to teach Mauricio how to plan ahead, he ends up showing her that life happens in the spaces between one commitment and the next.
