The Outer Banks has always been split into two worlds: the Kooks of Figure Eight and the Pogues of the Cut. Most people know exactly where they belong.
Gia Reed doesn't.
After moving to Figure Eight with her family two years ago, Gia has learned how to survive among the island's elite without ever really becoming one of them. She can handle yacht club parties, country club gossip, and the endless expectations that come with living on the rich side of the island-but she'll always feel more at home with her Pogue friends.
Then there's Rafe Cameron.
Everyone knows the Cameron name. Everyone knows to stay away from Rafe. Quiet, guarded, and impossible to read, he's the last person Gia expects to keep running into. What starts as sarcastic exchanges and reluctant conversations slowly turns into something neither of them can explain, especially as the people around them force them together.
But on the Outer Banks, nothing stays simple for long.
As old rivalries resurface, loyalties are put to the test, and long-buried secrets begin to unravel, Gia finds herself caught between two worlds that are on a collision course. The closer she gets to Rafe, the harder it becomes to decide where she belongs and whether some lines were meant to be crossed.
Because on this island, everyone has something to lose.
And by the end of the summer, nothing will be the same.
