The Apothecary's Favorite Poison

(Y/N) Isley had a tragic start in his life. He was born to a former courtesan and her domestic husband who killed her in front of him, resulting in his arrest. (Y/N) was then placed in the care of his mother's friends in a prominent brothel called the Verdigris House where he met a girl named Maomao and spent a lot of time with her and her father. Over the years, (Y/N) grew to love planets and hate humans with Maomao and her father being exceptions. He and Maomao spent time together by indulging their passions in medicine, poisons, and pharmacological experiments. However, they mostly experimented on themselves, resulting in Maomao becoming resistant to most poisons, while (Y/N) gained abilities beyond humans, powers everyone dreams of having, a force that can cause fruition or devastation. The power (Y/N) now wields can get him the entire world, have anyone and anything he wants, gain a reputation higher than royalty, but chooses not to abuse it, rather use it for small personal gain, sometimes give others a happy ending, and protect the green and those he cares about. Everything changes when Maomao is kidnapped and sold to the Imperial Palace. (Y/N) wanted to get Maomao out, but she wanted to stay, because if they did escape, they could possibly be fugitives and put everyone they know and love in danger and would constantly be on the run. Giving in, (Y/N) decided to become a maid in the Imperial Palace with Maomao and keep her safe, until they could leave legally. Plus, (Y/N) can use his powers more often and hear juicy gossip and rumors, thinking it would be better than keeping his power hidden at all times and dealing with men at the brothel. He would be interested to see what adventures await him and what events would unfold, hoping they'd be exciting.
