She couldn't deny it - it was what she was. Her brother said it made her impossible to reason with, Cristina said it made her a surgery god. In any case - Mackenzie Sloan would make herself a surgical Rockstar, and she didn't need anyone holding her back.
But with the merger with Mercy West beginning and staff being let go left right and centre, Kenny lets herself fall into the same cycle that her brother and Derek had just pulled her out of after the deaths of her fiancΓ© and George O'Malley; work, study, sleep, repeat.
