Echoes Beyond the Void

Humanity believed it was alone for most of its history.
That illusion shattered the day the ancient gateway buried beneath Antarctica awakened.
The structure was older than Earth itself, forged from a silver-black metal no human science could identify. When activated, it tore open a corridor through space and revealed the existence of the Greater Spiral - a vast galactic civilization made up of thousands of species, ancient empires, living machines, synthetic gods, and forgotten precursors.
Within a single decade, humanity was thrust from its fragile cradle into a galaxy already on the edge of collapse.
At the center of it all stood Kael Veyrin.
Born on the fringe colony world of Eryndor, Kael was the son of salvagers who died uncovering an impossible artifact drifting within a dead star system. The artifact bonded itself to him when he was a child, embedding strange patterns beneath his skin and awakening abilities no one understood.
He could hear the Echo.
The Echo was not magic. Not exactly.
It was a field connecting thought, matter, gravity, and consciousness itself - an ancient force engineered billions of years ago by a vanished civilization known only as the Architects.
Most races viewed the Echo as religion. Others treated it as a weapon. A few feared it above all else.
Because every cycle, something came from beyond the galactic veil.
