Echo of the Remnants

Cities were still standing.
But the hearts of the people had already collapsed.

One day, the sky was torn open.
And "Remnants" fell upon the world.

Some called them weapons.
Others, curses.

Most who touched them died.
Those who survived... changed.

Haruto wanted to continue living as an ordinary student.
Until the moment he heard that voice echo within his body.

"Awaken."

After that night, darkness began to follow him.

And that thing everyone feared...
began to take shape in his hands.

Some powers are not chosen.
Some slowly consume the person who bears them.

And Haruto would soon come to understand:

The true monsters of this world were not the Remnants.

Introduction (Opening)

It was raining.

Silently.

Water accumulating beneath streetlights turned red.

Haruto looked at the fragment lying on the ground.

It was small.
A dark metal piece, almost black.

But it pulsed-as if it were breathing.

Everyone around him had fled.

Sirens still echoed through the city.
The tear in the sky had not yet closed.

Haruto bent down.

The moment his fingers touched the fragment...

the world fell silent.

Sound disappeared.
The rain froze in midair.

And from the darkness, someone whispered:

"At last, I've found you."

Haruto tried to pull back.

But it was already too late.

Black lines began to spread across his arm.

Slowly.
Quietly.
As if his body had always known them.

That night, 312 people died in the city.

But the true catastrophe...

began with the survival of a single person.
