Alison Lane was enjoying her 17 years. She grew up in Long Beach, California, practically living on the beach. She had a great group of friends, an amazing boyfriend, decent grades, and her dad made good money with his job as a surgeon. She thought she was living the dream.
When her dad was in a tragic plane crash on his way back from a surgery in another state, Alison couldn't live on her own. Her only choice was to go live with her aunt Jasmine, thousands of miles away from Long Beach. That meant leaving behind her life.
Alison discovers her new life is going to be way different. Aunt Jasmine's small studio apartment wasn't as big as her townhouse in California. Her personality was very, well, different. Her opinion on success was running a small, busy, coffee shop. And most of all, Alison's school life. She would have to meet all new friends, and possibly find a new boyfriend. So much for living the dream.
Alison soon discovers that her new life in Chicago, isn't so bad.
