Alicia O'Reilly's life was as normal as it could be. Parents who loved each other and ran a small bakery, friends, and she had her twin sister Emma by her side.
But then, one day, Emma disappears. She never made it home on the night of their high school graduation. Her car was abandoned, and her things were left behind. And yet, no matter how long and where the police looked, Emma was nowhere to be found.
That's not the worst part.
Ever since that fateful summer, Alicia's hometown has to fear the seasons changing because more girls are disappearing every summer. It was the same story: one of the girls disappear when they go somewhere. Their car and personal items are left behind. There are no signs of struggling.
And they were spotted near the old lake house.
Eight years later, Alicia has had to deal with life without her sister. She tried to move on to focus on what she does have, but she is haunted by the fact that Emma - or her body - was still out there, somewhere where their family couldn't reach her.
While on a walk in the woods, Alicia finds something that changes everything: a camera buried in the dirt, containing pictures of the missing victims.
Only... the camera has been used recently. Alicia O'Reilly soon realizes that Emma's disappearance was no coincidence, and that her beloved twin may have been a victim of a deadly case of mistaken identity. With the help of someone from her past, Alicia is determined to get justice for Emma- or die trying.
