His protector

"Michael, where are you going?" she shouted.

He kept walking, mumbling incoherent words under his breath.

She jogged to catch up with him.

"Michael, who are you talking to? There isn't anyone else out here," she said softly, grabbing his arm to stop him from moving.

He looked up slowly, tears pooling in his eyes.

"What's wrong, Michael?" she asked.

"I don't want to sound ungrateful, but sometimes I wish I was normal again," he said quietly.

"What do you mean?"

"Everybody either wants money or fame. I just want somebody to talk to without worrying about them making up lies and selling stories about my life to the public.

"My brothers won't even play with me anymore. They have a life. They have a family and I don't have anyone I'm alone. Do you know how that feels?"

He started to sob.

With a gentle step, she closed the distance between them, her arms wrapping loosely around him. He gave in immediately, surrendering to her embrace as another wave of tears hit him. He buried his face where her neck met her shoulder, breathing her in and letting the familiar scent calm his racing heart.

She stepped back first. "You have me Michael it'll be okay. Now, let's get you inside. It's cold out. We can't have you getting sick."
