Solene has always known Levi - she's known him for half her life. He was the same stubborn, pain in the ass man she'd trust her own life with. He was her Captain, her friend, her closest comrade - now more than ever since the war had ended. So where along the way did Solene realize she loved him? And could the reserved, stone hearted Captain possibly love her too?

~EXCERPT~

"I don't want fucking tea." My voice overwhelmed the space.

Levi paused. Then, he set the kettle down. Controlled. Always damned controlled.

I felt like I was drowning on dry land. Swirling with anger, and confusion. With longing and resentment all at once.

"Where have you been?" I demanded, meaning to sound more concerned, but it came out a mix between fury and grief.

"I waited for you," I accused anyway, "For days."

"And you didn't come to see me."

Levi stood there, with this unreadable look on his face. Something knowing. Something else.

"I stood there," I tried to breathe, "And filled your stupid mug with tea - for days. Staring at it - thinking you'd come in - but you never did."

"Solene."

His voice held gravity. To ground me before I spiraled into nothingness.
