Insects of The Sky

𝐈𝐧 𝟏𝟎𝟏𝟎𝟓, Earth had 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 belonged to mankind. Since the dawn of time, it has been the 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬.

𝟒𝟎𝟎𝟏𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 ago, the 𝐌𝐲𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐬 appeared: gargantuan, insectoid, man-eating creatures, as violent toward one another as they were toward humans. No one ever knew where they came from. Yet their instinct seems to obey only a single law:

𝐄𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝.

𝐒𝐨̈𝐫𝐞𝐧, 𝐄𝐥𝐬𝐳𝐚, 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞, and 𝐄𝐝𝐠𝐚𝐫 grew up within this sealed sanctuary, cradled by illusions and raised in fear of those monsters.

But by the riverside, on that very day, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬.

What happens when the true monster... may not be the one we fear, but the one we believe we know?

A lie can build an 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞. But it can never 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭.
