"You're thinking too much again," he murmured. I laughed softly under my breath. "You keep saying that." "Because it's true." When I looked at him, he reached up slowly, brushing one curl away from my face before his hand rested gently against my cheek. The touch alone nearly melted whatever resistance I had left. Then he kissed me again. Slower this time. More intimate. His hands settled carefully against my waist while mine moved instinctively to the back of his neck, and suddenly the city outside disappeared completely. Everything about him felt warm, his hands, his voice, the way he held me like I was something delicate even while pulling me closer. And for the first time in a long time, I stopped trying to fight the moment and simply let myself feel wanted.
