Five years have passed since the Gaang defeated Fire Lord Ozai. Zuko took the throne, Katara and Aang traveled the world looking for Air Nation history, Toph started a metal bending school, and Sokka builds relations between the war-torn nations.
The Fire Nation has grown restless. They have no respect for Zuko, and there is fear he may never marry after his relationship with Mai ended four years ago. But a bold new plan appears to smooth things over.
Zuko will marry Katara, in a public union and peace treaty between the two nations. But the two have their own feelings about the match, and neither knows how to live with their new reality.
Can they find a way to live together as husband and wife and keep their friends placated about the arrangement, or will the Fire Nation have no choice but to roust Zuko from his throne, and place someone of their own choosing on it?
