The Lesson

Grace Williams transferred to Columbia University halfway through her junior year determined to become a lawyer and make enough money to help her family. Between being at the top of her pre-law classes and working two jobs, Grace barely has time for anything else - especially boys. Not that she would know what to do with one anyway. Grace is painfully inexperienced when it comes to dating, and after the relationship that forced her to transfer schools, she's sworn off love completely.

Until she meets Jack Alexander, a pretty architecture major, she can barely speak around without embarrassing herself.

Then there's Max Pierce - the governor of Connecticut's son, heir to Pierce Law, and the most notorious guy at Columbia. With messy blonde curls, green eyes, and a reputation for sleeping with half the campus, Max is everything Grace avoids. But after failing one of his classes, he desperately needs a tutor.

Grace needs the money. Max needs to pass.

So they make a deal: she tutors him, and he teaches her how to get Jack to notice her.

What starts as a simple arrangement quickly turns into something neither of them expected. Because the more Grace gets to know Max, the more she realizes his reputation may be the biggest lie of all.
