From Pieces To Peace

We've all heard the stories.

Bullock carts creaking down dusty lanes at dawn. Women drawing water from wells, brass pots balanced on their heads. Children running barefoot to the village school, slates tucked under their arms.

That was the village. Once.

But this is not that story.

This is the story of the village today.

Where the same dusty lanes now have tire marks from scooties and tractors. Where the well is dry, but every house has a smartphone with 2 bars of 5G. Where the school has a fans that works when the light doesn't go.

This is the story of a boy sitting under his father's neem tree. His father tied cattle to it. He ties his hopes to it - UPSC books spread on a charpai, three attempts left, and the weight of a whole family on his shoulders.

This is the story of a girl who folded every dream she ever had - topper, professor, freedom - into a sack and slid it in the storeroom. Because someone, somewhere, told her: ladkiyo ke sapne nahi hote.

This is the story of two people.

Rudra.
Mahi.

Both incomplete.
Both carrying sharp, jagged pieces of themselves that never quite fit anywhere else.

Him, all duty and silence.
Her, all fire and waiting.

Until they met.

And in the space between his discipline and her dreams, between his fear of failing and her fear of never starting - they found something neither expected.

They found home.

They found whole.
