Beyond The Darkened Rose

"When people look up at the stars, they imagine wonder. Discovery. Hope. They tell themselves the universe is waiting for them with open arms and endless horizons. I used to think the same thing once. Truth is, what waits out there is older than fear and far crueler than anything humanity has ever survived. There are things beyond those stars that do not conquer worlds because they need to. They do it because suffering is natural to them, the same way breathing is natural to us. Entire civilizations have vanished screaming into the dark while the galaxy kept turning like nothing happened.

You do not know that yet. Most people don't. They still believe extinction is the worst fate imaginable. It isn't. There are horrors in this universe that can hollow out a people so completely that death becomes mercy by comparison.

And one day, sooner or later, they will come here too.

When that time comes, humanity will have a choice. Hide behind ruins and pray for survival, or stand and fight even knowing the odds are monstrous. I have seen worlds fall because nobody stood soon enough. I will not watch it happen again.

So when the darkness finally reaches this world, General, understand this one thing clearly.

You will not stand alone.

I will be there beside every man and woman willing to fight back, and together we will drag this world through the fire if we have to.
