Amara ( Lupita Nyongo ) is married to Lucas Vines( Charlie Hunnam) the son of billionaire Bob Vine ( Kevin Coster ) and Dorothy Vine ( Helen Mirren ) .They have been married for 23 years with two sons Jabari Ethan Vines (19) and Kofi Theo Vines ( 11 ) .Their lives are torn apart during their anniversary dinner when Lucas is exposed for cheating when a " spicy video " of him and another mysterious woman is uploaded online for everyone to see .The mysterious woman face is not shown in the video leaving Lucas face only shown
This opens up flood gates as the Vines family is put in spotlight as they became a topic on blogs ,newspapers. Once a private family known for not having scandals has their privacy invaded .When rumors of a second part of the spicy video exist the family is forced to band together to find it and make sure it doesn't see a light of day .
But the arrival of Owen Xavier ( Jacob Scipion ) who has a past with Amara that the Vines family didn't know about things takes turn for the worst as Lucas as the grapple the possibility of losing his wife to Owen who determined to establish Dominance in Owen's and the Vines Family .With tension high Angela Amara mother ( Viola Davis ) arrival shakes things up as she's determined also to teach Lucas and his mysterious mistress a hard lesson they won't forget .while the family also have to fight off past and new enemies lurking in the distance
