Ten years ago, Serena Vale disappeared. After her billionaire father was accused of murdering a man in cold blood, the scandal consumed everything. The headlines, the trials, the cameras waiting outside their home-it destroyed her family long before the court ever could. So her mother took what was left of their money, changed their names, and disappeared with her daughter before the world could ruin her too. Now living under the name Nina Carter, Serena wants only one thing: a normal life. At Bellmere University, nobody knows who she really is. She keeps her head down, avoids attention, and buries the past deep enough that sometimes even she can almost forget it exists. Then she meets Elias. What starts as anonymous emails about class assignments slowly becomes late-night conversations, inside jokes, and the kind of connection Nina never thought she'd allow herself to have. With him, she feels seen without feeling exposed. Safe without needing to hide. Until one confession changes everything. Because Elias has his own history with the Vale family. And once the truth comes out, love begins to rot into something darker. Anonymous messages start appearing

"They say all's well that ends well, but I'm in a new hell everytime...." ~ All too well by the OG,Taylor Swift (This lyric is perfect for Evangeline's POV) "Oh, all that I did to try to undo it, all of my pain and all your excuses I was a kid but I wasn't clueless (Someone who loves you wouldn't do this) All of my past, I tried to erase it But now I see, would I even change it? Might share a face and share a last name, but" (We are not the same) ~Family line by Conan Gray, a masterpiece. (This stanza is for Zane's POV.) At 16, Evangeline deals with issues every teenager think they go through, just....multiply its intensity by a thousand. Not really common. She's breaking day by day, close to giving up. At the same time, Zane deals with an abusive father, multiple issues of his own. Not once does he even have the thought to give up, though. He's empathetic, whereas she's closed off. He sees the best in people, whereas she tries not to see people anymore. "He was sunshine, I was the midnight rain." Two opposites, would fate have something new in making for them? (Please check out the TWs for this story first and foremost.) P.S- This book is NOT fiction. It's based on the life of someone I know irl.
