Ellie Valentine is 11 years of age when her entire life is completely shattered by the arrival of a swarm of mutant bugs that completely decimate her city.
On the run with her older brother, the rough yet charismatic Drench, they make it for a short time before the two are separated.
Assuming that her brother is dead, Ellie grows up in a new world where the survivors are left fighting for their lives. There is no end to the swarm, and those who made it out need to find a new way to live.
