Daniel Hayes survived the Marines, but surviving service and learning how to live afterward turned out to be two very different things.

Back home in California, civilian life feels strangely unreal. The structure is gone. The purpose is gone. Relationships feel distant, routines feel empty, and every attempt to move forward seems shadowed by the man military life forced him to become.

Then a private contracting company offers him what the civilian world can't:
