A year before Garrett Graham met Hannah Wells, another story was unfolding inside the Briar hockey house.

Luca Moretti was supposed to be hockey's next big thing until an injury destroyed everything he had planned for himself.

Now he's transferred to Briar University with a bad shoulder, failing grades, and absolutely no interest in parties, people, or starting over.

Unfortunately for him, Stella Carter exists.

Everyone at Briar knows Stella. She's the girl somehow invited everywhere-the life of every party, the owner of color-coded notes and perfect grades, the social butterfly who can outdrink half the hockey team on Friday night and still ace an exam Monday morning.

What starts as one late-night conversation at a hockey party turns into tutoring sessions, lingering looks across crowded rooms, balcony confessions, and Stella slowly making herself at home inside Luca's carefully guarded world.

But while Stella begins to see the boy behind Luca's silence, she also realizes something nobody else does:

Luca Moretti has already started giving up on hockey.
