He stared.

He waited.

She nodded.

He ran a hand through his hair slowly.
"So," he said carefully, "you want to marry me... for my parents."
"Yes."
He let out a short laugh of disbelief.
"What about my choice?"
She waved her hand dismissively.
"Adjust for once na."
He stared at her.
She stared back.
Completely serious.
Utterly unreasonable.

"You should be grateful. I proposed," she said a beat later.
"You proposed for my parents."
She lifted her chin.
"They're worth it."
