When film students Pauline, Mira, and Leslie are assigned to create a short horror movie together, none of them are thrilled about it. Pauline is uptight and serious, Mira is perpetually stoned, and Leslie treats college like one long afterparty. The three barely tolerate each other.
Desperate for a filming location, Pauline offers up her late grandfather's isolated home off Bench Road, deep in a forgotten Utah town surrounded by desert and silence.
But when they arrive, the local news is consumed by reports of a horrific circus convoy crash just miles outside town. Missing performers. Burned trailers. No survivors found.
To Leslie, it sounds perfect.
Their horror film suddenly has a theme: clowns.
As the girls spend the night writing scripts, filming scenes, and joking about killer clowns lurking outside, strange things begin happening around the house. Footsteps in empty rooms. Laughter echoing across the desert. Faces appearing in windows where no one should be standing.
Trapped miles from civilization, the three girls realize something followed the circus out of the wreckage - something smiling, bloodstained, and very, very real.
And on Bench Road, nobody can hear you scream.
