In a future where humanity survives beneath endless artificial light, society is controlled by the Helion Authority, a regime claiming darkness is deadly and that light towers called Lumens are humanity's only protection. Citizens live under constant surveillance inside glowing city sectors, believing the outside world is toxic and uninhabitable.

Nineteen-year-old Nyla Veyne has spent her life hiding strange abilities she cannot explain. Lights flicker around her, electronics react to her touch, and terrifying dreams haunt her every night. When a sudden blackout plunges Sector 9 into darkness, Nyla accidentally unleashes a powerful burst of energy that exposes her as a Radiant - one of the feared humans altered by the catastrophic Flarefall storms years earlier.
