Abandoned Mid Sentence

This is not a story about being left behind.
It is about the moment I chose to leave first.
I stayed long enough to learn the shape of indifference

how it sits across from you at dinner,
how it answers you without really answering,
how it makes you feel like you are asking too much just by caring.
I thought love would soften it.
Instead, I found myself shrinking inside conversations
that never fully held me.
So I left.
Not loudly. Not cruelly.
Just quietly enough to survive myself.
And still, I wonder about the things we never said -
the sentences that broke off mid breath,
the version of us that almost existed,
and the way silence can feel like a slow kind of disappearance.
Abandoned mid sentence is not about walking away from love.
It is about walking away from what refused to meet you halfway.
