The Cure

When the world goes to shit, no one's there for River, certainly not the people who are supposed to care for her. At ten years old, she's already learned a painful lesson: the people who promise to stay are usually the first to leave. Ignored by her foster parents and surrounded by strangers, River keeps her head down, asks for nothing, and tries to take up as little space as possible.

But the apocalypse has a funny way of bringing people together. As River searches for a place to belong, she discovers that family isn't always blood, and sometimes the people who care the most are the ones who have the hardest time showing it.
