After a chaotic 5 Seconds of Summer concert in Manchester spirals into dead microphones, broken in-ears and backstage threats of violence, production manager Mikayla Hayes is left furious, exhausted, and one bad decision away from completely crossing her own boundaries. Sharp-tongued, terrifyingly good at her job and determined to never become a musician's backstage cliché, Mikayla wants nothing to do with Luke Hemmings, especially not after the way he spent the entire night looking at her like he wanted to either fight her or ruin her. Unfortunately, the feeling seems mutual. What starts as angry backstage banter turns into cigarettes on hotel balconies, one too many glasses of wine after midnight, silk lace, nasty flirting and the kind of chemistry that feels more dangerous than romantic. Because sometimes hate and desire sound exactly the same over a late-night phone call.
