The World We Almost Stole

Earth is dying.
In a desperate final attempt to save humanity, the United World Government discovers Virelia, a distant planet almost identical to Earth. To secure it, they recruit intergalactic prisoners with promises of freedom, sending them to fight a war against the planet's native inhabitants, who are said to have attacked first.
Among them is Zek, a horned prisoner who is burdened by the pressure of being the best and climbing the ranks. Alongside a reckless young soldier, a towering alien warrior, and a strange immortal being made of living stardust, Zek has to balance war and love.
But the deeper they advance into the war, the more something feels wrong.
The natives do not fight like conquerors.
The government's story begins to unravel.
And the line between hero and monster slowly disappears.
As secrets surface and loyalties fracture, Zek and his team are forced to confront a terrifying possibility:
