After a failed marriage and years of remote contract work, Tyler Reed relocates to a small coastal barangay in the Philippines with a simple plan: live cheaply, keep to himself, and build sailboats in a place that abandoned them long ago. Instead, he finds himself pulled into the rhythms of provincial life. There's Rowena, the cautious single mother hired to maintain his unfinished house. Her endlessly curious daughter. A beach full of old fishermen who think sails are impractical relics. Gossiping neighbors, crowded sari-sari stores, brownouts, karaoke, coin-fed internet, and an entire community that refuses to let a foreigner quietly disappear into isolation. As Tyler struggles to build his little sailboat among a sea filled with pumpboats, the awkward arrangement between him and Rowena slowly settles into something neither of them expected: routine, trust, and the beginnings of a home where they both belong.

After fleeing her abusive ex in the middle of the night, Chloe Dawson arrives in a small coastal town with nothing but a duffel bag, a crying six-month-old baby, and the last of her savings. She rents a tiny apartment where the walls are paper-thin. Next door lives Sergeant Mason Kane, disciplined, exhausted, emotionally closed off, and currently on leave between military assignments. After years in the army, silence is the only thing that helps him sleep. Then the baby starts crying every night. At first, Mason is irritated. Chloe is terrified of him. Every knock on the door reminds her of the man she escaped.
