Sloane Beatrice Campbell was one of the most popular supermodels in 1989. As an average German girl turned model after moving to the States at ten years old, she was everything anyone wanted to be- admirable, charismatic, mysterious, and beautiful. The paparazzi was all over her ever since 1986, when she first signed with Victoria's Secret. Since then, she had been all over magazines, commercials, newspapers, and more. People couldn't get her out of their heads, even if they wanted to.

So, when her and Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, started publicly dating, it was as if the country exploded. Fans and worlds collided, which only led to the pair becoming even more popular. It was chaotic, obsessive, and beautiful.

Well, it would be if the relationship was real.

Sloane was doing well for herself. Constantly signing brand deals, building a name, creating her own team full of talented stylists and persuasive lawyers alike. However, when her manager got in touch with Michael's team, he knew he wouldn't stop until he brought Sloane and Michael together, whether that be professionally or romantically.

Similarly, Michael was, objectively, the most famous person of the 80s. He didn't need to launch a relationship just for publicity and popularity. But, when his manager realized how well the relationship would do for Michael's brand, he couldn't help but agree to the deal. After all, since Michael's "Bad World Tour" had just ended, this publicity would help Michael remain popular in the industry until his next album and tour.

Sloane and Michael admired each other's talent, and strictly that. They only agreed to do this to help themselves professionally and never expected this fake relationship to become personal.
