Those few words echoed around my brain until I came to my senses and stepped away from Ben and his warm, comforting embrace. I had to get away from the bedroom; I knew that couldn't concentrate fully in here.

I decided that I would leave crying until later. This investigation had to have my absolute focus. 100% of my attention. Missing any of the details that I was so desperate for was not an option.

I walked purposefully into the living room, with Ben reluctantly trailing behind me. I sat, wiping away my tears, and gave him a pointed look. He slowly planted himself on the chair across from me.

"What's going on?" I asked him. He hesitated, but I allowed him the short moment so he could collect his thoughts and prepare himself.

"These past few months have been....difficult to say the least," Ben admitted. I refrained from making any comment and let him continue. He took a deep breath in and then said: "You've met my dad, haven't you?"
