I used to believe that an emotional connection was an unbreakable shield. Marrying my high school crush, my first and only boyfriend, was supposed to be the start of our forever. But trust doesn't shatter all at once; it erodes. He took our sacred bond for granted and destroyed it in a way so brutal I could feel it in my bones, spreading through my body and soul like a sickness. I learned the hard way that cheating, no matter how it is packaged or what excuses are used to justify it, is utterly destructive. Sometimes, the damage runs so deep that it becomes entirely cureless. Especially when the betrayal involves the people you least expect, leaving you to piece together the ruins of a life you thought you knew.
