I wrote a poem which is heavily inspired by Pablo Neruda's "Tonight I Can Write the Saddest Lines." I've always loved the repetition in that poem, the way every return to the line feels heavier than before. I wanted to try something similar with what I think are the seven most universal pains: unreturned love, loss, insecurity, failed dreams, loneliness, regret, and the fear that everything beautiful eventually fades. I'm honestly terrible at rhyming, so I'm weirdly excited that this actually came together the way it did. Also, I've realized something while writing this: I think I can write grief far more honestly than I can write happiness. Pain comes out of me in complete sentences. I hope you like it ❤
