After being bitten by a genetically engineered spider, young Peter Parker finds that he now has incredibly enhanced strength, speed and agility. Along with the ability to adhere to any surface, a precognitive spider-sense that warns him of danger and a pair of mechanized web shooters, the idealistic teenager fights against evil as the costumed hero Spider-Man. Set during the decade of the 1990's, this is a Generation X version of the Amazing Spider-Man story. This is a time when young people believed that they had the power to change the world for the better. In order to make a difference, Peter will need to rely on his friends for help and have the courage to believe in good. Individuals born with uncanny powers and abilities are called mutants. These people are feared and hated by society. They face persecution from normal human beings. With the Mutant Registration Act looming, how can they stay safe? When Peter Parker meets a young girl who is a mutant, he begins to understand their struggle. Anna Marie is a mutant with the power to absorb other people's thoughts, emotions and power. She is sought after by the evil Magneto, but Spider-Man arrives to save her. During this conflict, the wall crawler encounters the X-Men. This team of mutants is dedicated to protecting other mutants and society as a whole. When Spider-Man wrongly believes they mean to harm her, they fight. It is an awful misunderstanding by two forces for good trying to keep her away from the clutches of Magneto. He has plans for her. The misguided villain has a plan to turn normal human beings into mutants. It is a plan that must be stopped.
