Eight years after the fall of the Resistance and the tragic death of Sonic the Hedgehog, the world is locked in Pax Robotnika- a cold, dystopian empire ruled by fear, surveillance, and suffocating smog. History has been rewritten, and hope is a forgotten memory.
But in the shadows of this brutalist world, a sixteen-year-old fox survives. Hardened by trauma, fueled by a burning desire for revenge, and equipped with deadly mechanical tails, Miles Prower is no longer the sweet sidekick he used to be. Deep within an abandoned base, Miles awakens the ultimate backup weapon: Shadow the Hedgehog. Weakened by an eight-year-long stasis, Shadow wakes up to a ruined world and a cynical teenager who has forgotten how to be a child. To defeat Infinite and tear down Eggman's empire, they must learn to trust each other. But as they fight through the ashes of the past, Shadow's greatest mission might not be winning the war- but saving the soul of the broken fox he once knew as a friend.
