Julip Hawthorne has always seen the world in color. Because of her synesthesia, every person has a shade only she can see-voices shimmer, personalities glow. Her older sister Georgia burned the brightest of them all, a warm sunset orange that lit up everything around her. Georgia was the one who understood Julip's strange way of seeing the world and encouraged her to paint the colors she saw in people. But when Georgia dies suddenly in a car accident, the colors disappear, draining into dull browns and grays. At the funeral, overwhelmed by grief, Julip runs-literally. As she struggles to navigate life without her sister, Julip begins to wonder if the colors she lost are gone forever... or if she might still find them again.
