Nearly twenty years after the Y2K Disaster, the world has collapsed. Accidental missile launches across the globe inadvertently led to a brain-eating amoeba causing humans to become Infecteds.

Lazarus Cinco is a trans man that does not remember his last name. All he wants is to find the last few remaining members of the cult he was in. As he travels from Odessa to Truth or Consequences, he becomes lost in Las Cruces.

Lazarus comes across an Infected trans man. He names him Adam. Adam is at the top of the social hierarchy amongst the Infecteds- something that Lazrus is brutally aware about. Always ripping out throats and spitting into his victim's eyes, noses, ears, and mouths to infect them.

When Lazarus fearfully coughs weed smoke into Adam's face after being choked, he realizes he can be subdued. Maybe even be cured.
