It would not be right to say that the Just King of Narnia and the Princess-turned-High-Queen of Rihaaya fell in love when they first met in a gilded hall, spring breaking across the land, with four children of Adam and Eve newly crowned. After all, they were only children then.

But it would also not be right to say that they parted as sullen strangers the first time they met. After all, there were promises to keep- and Sanya and Edmund, for all their faults, knew the importance of a vow.

Instead, they left with rare- if faint- smiles aimed at each other, addresses tucked in their minds and having given promises to write.

But saying that, in the next few years, they fell in love through letters and visits, even without realising it, even though they did not accept it, even when they decidedly should not have?
That would indeed be right.

But was it easy? Did they themselves accept the growing bond between them? Did their countries approve? Would it be alright in the end? Or would they suffer the tragic fate that so many versions of them have in so many other worlds?
