Danganronpa 99: Return of Despair (FINAL REWRITE)

After the collapse of the world, and the events of the Danganronpa canon, society had started a new chapter. Hundreds of years after the events of the tragedy, the world had become stable again and was able to sustain itself on more than just despair. However, despair was still very prevalent in this world, and the people needed a way to experience that feeling again without starting a second coming of the tragedy.
World leaders had decided it would be best to start running killing games, with the participation of Ultimates from all around the world. They used a popular training program for Ultimates, known as the Phoenix Institute, as the face of the games.
They tested the games in a digital space with simulated, programmed participants, but had decided that the games needed to be tested with real participants before they could become official. However, they do believe that they have found a remedy for despair with these games.
