Taking place sixteen years after the harrowing finale of The Night Rider Trilogy, "The Night Rider's Heir" resumes the tale following Zephyr Haddock, a Berkian teenager who doesn't feel like she fits in much with the numerous Vikings nor dragons around her; despite the fact that her late father, Hiccup Haddock, had been the chief of Berk until his untimely death before Zephyr had been born.
