Realigned stars - WIP

Ryland Grace thought he had a decent idea of how his life was going to go.

He was wrong.

The first clue was being dragged into an emergency meeting by the woman responsible for saving Earth. Eva Stratt. The second clue was finding himself in a room containing what appeared to be every scientist, engineer, and expert worth knowing on the planet.

And the third clue? A brown-and-blonde-haired figure sitting near the front, orange-blonde roots sticking out in every direction as their legs swung impatiently beneath their chair.

Everyone else looked stressed, exhausted, or terrified.

They looked bored. In hindsight, Ryland would realise that was the moment he should have turned around and run.
