needs a lot of background, ahem, so... in this au, grandmother silk is crap, like normal, and abuses phantom and lace a lot, the two of them run away, to live with herrah and hornet, the whole dreamer thing did not happen, but herrah still had hornet with the pale king, somehow... herrah might be friends with the other dreamers... hornet is in middle school, along with lace, phantom is in high school. phantom was worried their mother would get her revenge, but herrah just thought it was from being abused so much, and ptsd stuff.

grandmother silk thinks this is not okay for her daughters to do, its happened once before with the weavers, so one day, she kidnaps hornet, and says she is now hers, "if she takes my daughters, I will take hers... you are mine now, you will be more obedient then they ever were", grandmother silk unenrolled her from school, so lace doesn't find her and drag her home again, and home school's hornet. whenever hornet tries to leave, grandmother silk hits her until she bleeds.

phantom is very worried about hornet, lace says she hasn't seen her since she went to the bathroom at school, and when she tries to call her, it just goes to voice mail. and herrah is trying to keep the siblings calm, but she is also very worried about her biological daughter.

one night, lace and phantom go out to the forest. and sees hornet... being hanged... without her cloak on... She is alive, breathing, but barely, she has scars, that I did not show in the cover here- lace and phantom panic, lace tells phantom to call 911, and lace helps hornet down, the poor spider is shaking and bleeding, lace gives hornet her cloak. she had it because it was very cold out, and because she is skin and bones right now.
