004 was never meant to survive. Raised in a world of violence and stripped of everything he once called home, he escapes the only life he has ever known with little more than a rifle, a haunted past, and the ghosts of those he couldn't save. Thrust into a society rebuilding itself after war, he is forced to learn what it means to be ordinary-attending classes, making friends, and navigating a world that feels far more alien than any battlefield. Then he meets her. To everyone else, she is awkward, stubborn, and far from the image society expects. To him, she is laughter in a world that forgot how to smile. For the first time, 004 begins to imagine a future beyond survival. But beneath the glittering skylines and promises of peace, the world is still rotting. Corruption thrives in the shadows, old enemies refuse to stay buried, and some pasts are far too dangerous to outrun. As secrets close in and the line between safety and survival begins to blur, 004 must decide whether he can finally leave his old life behind-or whether the person he is trying to become was doomed from the start. In a world rebuilt on broken foundations, love may be the most dangerous thing of all.
