Stuck on a desolate Earth, a strange android wanders into a commune full of people struggling to survive. Among them is a young girl named Mara. As Vera works to help the commune, she and Mara become as close as an android and a person can become. Androids don't contain the aptitude for emotions like mankind-that is, until a strange alien signal reaches them. The problem is, it's encoded, and Vera is the only one who is capable of decoding it. The commune, led by Professor Gregory Platt, begin pushing Vera to communicate with whoever is sending the signal, desperate for their own futures.
