I gathered what little courage I had left and gulped the lump in my throat.
"I-I got lost," I stammered, trying to sound calm, though my voice still wavered and betrayed me.
He scrutinized me.
"Lost? In a place like this?" he questioned. I could hear the disbelief in his tone.
